Drawing from nude models – documentation, narrative and commentary – studio life, interpreted.

Carole Hanks: Born and raised in Hawaii, Carole Hanks has lived and worked in Seattle, Chicago, Honolulu, New York and Toronto. Her current domicile is Phoenix, Arizona. Originally her drawing was combined with photography in order to explore ideas of altered reality and to experiment with formalist structure. Eventually the drawing became a kind of visual writing and photography disappeared into the background. Continuing developments in graphic novels and comics have led her to experiment with visual narrative form. Her comics are tales from the human comedy.
